about
About the record:
The album was recorded to 1" tape over the course of 2 days in Summer '09. Day 1 at Brooklyn's Kennel Studio was laying down all tracks for the A, B, and C sides. All 3 were recorded live with the full band, with vocals and additional percussion overdubbed. Brandee Younger entered the studio that night, and we had to carry her full sized harp up 3 flights of stairs. The next day all songs were mixed with DB and Prince Polo at the helms. A computer was not turned on all weekend. The songs heard on the vinyl pressing are the strict analog mixes, therefore are unique to any digital version available.

About the CD:
The session was later digitized and remixed by HB at Grandma's Studio. We then had Calamity of DXA lay down a verse on the C side, as well as sent around the A side stems to a handful of artists. The CD version contains a few of these remixes, plus 2 bonus dubs from the Prince Polo analog mixes.

About the book:
We asked a dozen of our favorite artists to conceptualize "Culture Pirate". With submissions from painters to photographers to Lego designers, the 28 pages filled up fast with eclectic & amazing art.

Track Name: Culture Pirates
stop thief
don't phase me
no roots, no culture
the downward spiral of
the blue eyed vulture

we're coming for you

don't you believe
in 10 years maybe you'll see
your tunes caught under
the downward spiral of
the blue eyed vulture

culture pirates
pillaging, appropriating
what once was true
culture pirates
coming for you
as if you needed anymore proof

that we're culture pirates
and we're coming for you
