- about
- In the summer of '08 we embarked on our first tiny tour down the East Coast. We only had a little over a week, so we hit as many cities as possible, including Boston, Hartford, Philly, NYC, DC, Raleigh NC, and Fairfax VA. The final date was on July 4th, where we threw a BBQ/backyard party at Those Guyz crib (ThoseGuyz= HB, Brian, & Icerocks, aka our producing/engineering team) in Astoria Queens. It was a dark, overcast day, and we had very little time to prepare for this recording. We literally played on grass, in the rain, and to a small crowd of people playing Beirut & grilling. By the time we were done playing the 2.5 hour set, we had people on roof tops all around the neighborhood.
We had no intention of recording a serious live album, and this release is true to our live show- one take, no overdubs, fuck-ups and all. Before we left for the short road trip, we learned a shit-ton of covers, knowing that we wouldn't want to play the same songs night after night (and it was much quicker to learn a cover than an original). We played a total of 10 covers, outweighing the number of originals by one song. We thought we had played almost every song we knew- but it turns out we somehow didn't play a single song off our first record. We have a tendency to put songs on the back burner once we release a new album... we apologize to the "old school" fans. The album was released on election day 08, and we feel strongly that it had a huge impact on Obama's win...

truth and faith don't come easy / they sure don't come for free / if only i could package them and sell it for a fee / wait a sec / i think i'm on to something here / sell piece of mind to those / who've lost their mind / i can believe what i want / great gods and aliens / if it's all unproven ain't it the same / parting seas / oh pardon me / i wrote a book you really outta read / it's reality / the title is my name / but when people start dying / don't look at me / who do you follow
- Track Name: Apathy (live)
-
If no one else seems to care
Then why should I?
I've got my own mess of monkeys
Clinging to my spine
Lord knows I try
But just can't find
any time, no, there is no time
For my own peace of mind
Does no one move without a movement?
so apathetic and indifferent
there's too much going on
i've got to pick and choose
only fighting battles i know i can't lose
a generation of stagnation,
procrastination,
self-damnation
Liberate your conscience from the guilt of apathy

this song may blow
but it's not a bomb
would you believe me if i said
my word is bond
this may be improvised
but it's not an explosive device
the song may blow but i really don't know
if we should stop the show
bombs are dropping, let's go shopping
ease our minds at war
until it hits home
the danger's postponed
leave the innocent dead unknown
until it hits home
let the media roam
leave the cost of war unknown
- Track Name: Nuh Skin Up (live)
-
angry / said you make us angry / angry people / that's who we are / there ain't no more smiles upon our faces / yet there was love in our heart today / but the memory of some bad things will never erase
- Track Name: Shadow Army
-
she lives hatefully
i can see it in her eyes
she turned the gun on me
for the right price
- Track Name: Blackwater

with the law in your hand / arm yourself with everything under the sun / shoot at will / get paid to kill / the taxpayers hired gun / don't you worry about being a number / these numbers don't count / you don't exist / oh how could we resist / without a need for a draft / join the ranks of the mercenary / it's better than the military / you're free from all accountability / join the ranks of the shadow army / who do they owe their loyalty / who do you owe your loyalty / believe me when i say that my song is really true / we're only in it for the money so what's it worth to you / it's not ronnie or kenny / it's these corporations / who are making a killing / from killing everyone / so don't you worry about / incrimination / cuz what you say won't count / it won't count / immunity / oh how could this be / at least there's no need for a draft
