PRESS RELEASE:

Friday, August 14, 2015: Announcing the surprise debut release from the Flying Vipers, a new dub project from twin brothers John and Marc Beaudette (Destroy Babylon, The Macrotones) and keyboard extraordinaire Zack Brines (Pressure Cooker, Kings of Nuthin). The word "dub" gets thrown around a lot by reggae-influenced acts, but the trio is returning the concept back to it's roots of live analog remixing. The band recorded all of the instrumental songs to an 8-track cassette recording console using vintage drums, bass and organ. The final mixes were made by the elusive Jay Champany (Truth & Rights) directly on the console, using classic dub techniques and effects.

The Flying Vipers recording session began as a casual lo-fi affair, but the band was so surprised by the end results that they had the legendary Kevin Metcalfe (David Bowie, Lee “Scratch” Perry) master the final mixes. Distinct rhythms and melodies combined with authentic analog grit and the band's genuine passion for 1970's Jamaican music culminated in a sonic triumph; a refreshing approach in today's modern reggae scene.
